Physiotherapy

Shayne offers a wide range of physiotherapy services designed to address your specific preferences and needs. Feel free to browse the available services below to learn more about her approach.

Manual Therapy

Shayne is well versed in a variety of manual therapy techniques, including soft tissue release, joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, assisted stretching, and more. She utilizes manual therapy as a means to help decrease pain and increase range of motion. These techniques are best used in conjunction with active rehabilitation and exercise, which helps prolong the effects of manual therapy.

Clinical Pilates

As a clinical pilates specialist, Shayne is able to incorporate pilates into her physiotherapy practice. Clinical pilates involves exercises that focus on core stability, motor control, and breathing. Shayne will teach you to move with control and confidence, by selecting exercises that are appropriate to your condition or injury. Shayne is trained in mat, reformer, cadillac, and chair pilates.

Dry Needling

Shayne is certified to offer two types of dry needling: Acupuncture and Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). Dry needling is the practice of inserting an acupuncture needle into muscular tissue, with the goal of relieving tension, promoting healthy restoration of muscles, and achieving full body relaxation. It is best used in conjunction with active rehabilitation and exercise to create lasting change in muscle tension!

Strength & Conditioning

Movement is medicine. This is why Shayne incorporates strength & conditioning principles into her treatment plan, particularly for athletes and individuals who are at the end stage of their rehabilitation. Shayne can help you bridge the gap between rehab and fitness. With access to a fully equipped gym, you can learn (or relearn) to lift weights safely and effectively.

Running Assessments

If you are experiencing pain or dysfunction while running, it may be worth booking a physiotherapy session to assess and treat your running-related pain. During a running assessment, Shayne will assess your strength, stability, and your running technique. She will then be able to provide specific recommendations regarding your running gait, footwear, training program, and cross training.

Yoga Therapy

As a trained yoga instructor with nearly a decade of experience, Shayne often incorporates therapeutic yoga into her physiotherapy practice, with the intention of improving mind-body connection in her clients. Shayne frequently uses therapeutic yoga techniques with individuals managing chronic pain, chronic joint stiffness, and high levels of physical or emotional stress.
